Hyundai Ioniq 6: over 600 km of autonomy!

Introduced in June 2022 and based on the Prophecy concept car, the Ioniq 6 inherits the group’s modular platform dedicated to E-GMP electricity and adopts an 800 V electric architecture. Thus, with two different battery capacities (77.4 kWh and 53 kWh) and two types of propulsion (RWD and 4WD), Hyundai’s electrified sedan will be one of the most efficient general-purpose brand electric vehicles on the market. In fact, the Ioniq 6 is capable of reaching up to 614km of range according to the manufacturer’s WLTP cycle. Few electric models are currently able to offer such autonomy.

Ioniq 6 takes full advantage of the E-GMP platform to offer the longest wheelbase in its segment (2.95m), for the benefit of habitability. Above all, it offers an 800V fast charging capability that allows it to gain up to 351km of range in 15 min and go from a 10 to 80% charge level in about 18 min. Using this platform allowed the manufacturer to focus its efforts on aerodynamics as well, where significant work was done to reduce the drag coefficient.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 range of fuel efficiency

The Ioniq 6 boasts a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21, the lowest in the Hyundai range and one of the best in the automotive industry. It is better than the Tesla Model 3 (Cx 0.23) and only slightly worse than the Mercedes EQS (Cx 0.20). Recall that, within the range of records, we will have to deal with the Lightyear 0, which has not yet entered production and will be, according to the manufacturer, the most aerodynamic production car in the world, with a record drag coefficient. of 0.175.

Such work on aerodynamics is not an engineering fad; Hyundai worked on an active air shutter, air curtains on the wheels to minimize airflow, an integrated rear spoiler and wheel arch reducers. If the Ioniq 6 is one of the sleekest sedans in the world, it shows above all a consumption of 13.9 kWh / 100 km in the configuration of the 56 kWh battery, two-wheel drive and 18-inch wheels, or 429 km.

Hyundai sends us this consumption and range table, which we in turn send you.
