Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Will Be Developed by CD Projekt in the USA | Xbox One

Yesterday was full of surprises following the announcements made by CD Projekt regarding their upcoming projects in the coming years. Among them, it’s hard not to notice Orion, the codename for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. This new game that leverages the Cyberpunk universe will be developed by a new division of CD Projekt.

CD Projekt will create an American studio to work on Orion

This is what the leaders of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 development team tell us. On Twitter, Paweł Sasko, one of the development managers, announced that he and other prominent members of the studio would be moving to Boston to set up a new CD Projekt Red branch there. The core team that worked on Cyberpunk 2077 is also expected to cross the Atlantic and join them in this project. Here’s what Sasko said on Twitter:

“I see you are asking the question, so let me clear things up. After the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, I will mainly focus on the new Cyberpunk 2077 project, codenamed Orion!

I will be moving to Boston with the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 to found a new studio and serve as a base for the North American team. Working with the team in Vancouver and the developers in Warsaw, we will deliver a hell of an upcoming game! “.

Project Orion will therefore be well developed in the United States by this new studio which should be called CD Projekt Red North America. No other information has been shared to date, but our colleagues from VideoGamesChronicle were still able to contact the Polish studio to get some details and their confirmation.

CD Projekt Red North America will begin work on Orion when Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC is released next year. Piotr Nielubowicz, Vice President and CFO of CD Projekt, said:

“Our plans are certainly ambitious and require a lot of additional work, dedication and growth.

That’s why we are creating a new team in Boston, which together with the expanding Vancouver team will form our new studio: CD Projekt Red North America. This will allow us to take full advantage of the North American talent pool. “

What is certain is that CD Projekt seems to be quite confident about their next projects. This certainty is also debated by the public who in part believe that it can be risky to announce games that are not even $ in pre-production. However, we know what CD Projekt is capable of and it’s easy to assume that the mistakes made in recent years have served as a lesson.
